Barbershop Events

Barbershops have long been trusted gathering spaces in Black and Hispanic communities—places where open conversation flows and relationships are built over time.

We're partnering with Philly barbershops to bring mental health awareness and education into a familiar and welcoming setting. Together, we’re reducing stigma, opening dialogue, and creating a new point of connection between community and clinical care.

Why It Matters

Major depressive disorder (MDD) affects nearly 1 in 10 individuals in the US and remains the most common psychiatric condition. Black and Hispanic populations face significant disparities in MDD diagnosis, access to care, and treatment. Black people, in particular, encounter systemic barriers that limit diagnosis, care access, and engagement in treatment.
