Charurut Somboonwit is a Professor of Medicine at the University of South Florida, Morsani College of Medicine (USF-MCOM), where she serves as Associate Division Director. She is an adjunct Professor at USF College of Public Health. She also serves as Communicable Disease and Clinical Research Director for the Florida Department of Health - Hillsborough and Medical Director for the Ryan White Program - Tampa General Health Care.

Her interest is in communicable diseases, including sexually transmitted infections (STIs), HIV clinical care, and clinical trials with the areas of interest of HIV therapeutics, HIV comorbidities, and access to care. She has provided medical oversight for STI prevention programs, HIV patient care, and HIV prevention/outreach programs. Since 2006, she has successfully expanded the research activities from pharmaceutical sponsor clinical trials to several NIH-sponsored trials. She recently completed two hallmarks of NIH-funded HIV clinical trials, START and REPRIEVE. In her academic roles, she attunes her combined teaching, clinical research, and clinical responsibilities to USF-MCOM's goals to create a balanced education, research, and clinical activity program. She has served on several committees and organizations involving community services, research integrity, and teaching. She has recently served as Florida Medical Director of Sylvie Ratelle PTC and Co-PI of Florida Disease Intervention Specialist Training Academy. She provided expertise in the CDC’s Doxy PEP Initiative, the FDA’s Blood Donor’s HIV Testing Guidelines, and the USPTSF’s PrEP Recommendations.

She is a member of the Gold Humanism Society, Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society, Infectious Diseases Society of America Leadership Institute, and an active lifetime member of Leadership Florida. She has received the citation "Best Doctors in America" every year since 2009 and Castel Connolly’s Exceptional Woman in Medicine and Top Doctor in 2022 and 2023.

Jacqueline Sherbuck, MD
Assistant Professor, Division of Infectious Diseases and International Medicine University of South Florida School of Medicine

Dr. Jacqueline Sherbuk is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Infectious Diseases and International Medicine at the University of South Florida College of Medicine. Dr. Sherbuk received her medical degree from New York University School of Medicine and then went on to complete a residency in internal medicine at Yale University and a fellowship in infectious disease at the University of Virginia.

Dr. Sherbuk serves as Medical Director for STD programs for the Hillsborough Health Department in Tampa, Florida. Dr Sherbuk has energized existing programs and overseen the development of new programs aimed at diagnosing, treating, and preventing HIV, sexually transmitted infections, and congenital syphilis.

Dr. Sherbuk’s research interests include improving systems of care for HIV management and prevention, sexually transmitted infections, and infections associated with injection drug use. Dr. Sherbuk is site principal investigator for an NIH funded study of novel models of care for people with severe injection related infections. This unique research project addresses the science of HIV care and examines the social determinants of health in these patients as well.
