  • Your barbershop is a safe place to talk — about current events, relationships, sex, and health care
  • Talk with your clients about getting tested for HIV
  • Anyone having unprotected sex should be tested for HIV at least once
  • Testing leads to earlier diagnosis and better health outcomes if you test positive

  • Some of your clients may benefit from PrEP
    • PrEP is “pre-exposure prophylaxis” – it’s medicine that protects people from getting HIV by up to 99% when used properly
  • Most insurance plans and state Medicaid programs cover the cost of PrEP
  • If someone tests positive, starting treatment early can keep them healthy
  • It’s easy - many treatments are one pill a day or two injections monthly!
