Christopher Babiuch, MD

Dr. Chris Babiuch is a Family Medicine Physician currently serving as the Vice Chair of Safety, Quality and Patient Experience for the Cleveland Clinic Primary Care Institute. He is also an Assistant Professor of Family Medicine at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine and the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Dr. Babiuch graduated from Miami University with a BA in zoology, earned his medical degree from The University of Toledo College of Medicine and attended the Macneal Family Medicine Residency in Berwyn, Illinois, where he also served as chief resident.

As Vice Chair of Safety, Quality and Patient Experience for the Primary Care Institute Dr. Babiuch is responsible for improvement initiatives and activities for all Cleveland Clinic Primary Care providers worldwide. He leads multidisciplinary teams in driving innovative and high-quality primary care with a focus on evidence based chronic disease management, transitions of care, cancer screening and close collaboration with specialty care providers.

Dr. Babiuch previously served as the Medical Director of Specialty Integration in Cleveland Clinic Foundations Value Based Operations team where he led high quality and cost-effective care in the management of heart failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, chronic kidney disease and diabetes. He also served as Medical Director of the CCF Lorain Family Health and Ambulatory Surgery Center and Section Head for Family Medicine at the Lorain Family Health Center.

Dr. Babiuch is a current board member of the Cleveland Clinic Foundation Accountable Care Organization. He is active within his community, a board member of El Centro De Servicios Sociales and was awarded the Nuestra Familia “Our Family” Award by the Ohio Latino Affairs Commission in 2019 for his work serving the Latino community in Lorain County Ohio.

Sumit Sharma, MD

Sumit Sharma, MD is an academic vitreoretinal surgeon and uveitis specialist with specific research interests in ocular imaging. He graduated with Bachelor of Science degrees in Computer Science and neuroscience from Johns Hopkins University and then went to medical school at Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine at Case Western Reserve University. Dr. Sharma then completed a residency in ophthalmology at Cleveland Clinic where he was awarded the Resident Research Award in multiple years and the Grand Rounds award. Dr. Sharma then completed a vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at Duke University where he was awarded the Heed Fellowship award and the prestigious Ronald G. Michels Fellowship Foundation Award given to the top vitreoretinal surgical fellows in the country. He then completed a uveitis fellowship at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London, UK prior to joining the Cole Eye Institute at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation as an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology in 2016. His research focus is on novel imaging techniques and their use in ophthalmology as well as clinical trials in both retina and uveitis. He has served as an investigator in over 80 clinical trials in all phases of development, published 90 peer reviewed articles and many book chapters and instructional courses. Dr. Sharma also serves as the Medical Director in the Information Technology Division for Ophthalmology, as the Uveitis Fellowship Director and the medical student clerkship director.
