Michael Albert, MD, DABOM

Michael Albert, MD, is a board-certified internal medicine physician and diplomate of the American Board of Obesity Medicine dedicated to expanding access to evidence-based obesity care. He trained at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, where he served as a Kennamer Fellow and faculty member and founded the Medical Weight Management program at The Weight Loss Center.

He is currently a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center and the co-founder and Chief Medical Officer of Accomplish Health, a nationwide telehealth practice delivering comprehensive obesity medicine and medical bariatrics.

Dr. Albert focuses on translating science into practical, patient-centered care and fostering a more informed, compassionate conversation around obesity. He also shares education widely on social media, where he reaches more than 300,000 followers across platforms.

Karli Burridge, DMSc-S, MMS, PA-C, MFOMA

Karli Burridge is a Board-certified PA and is a Master Fellow of the Obesity Medicine Association. She is the co-founder and past president of PAs in Obesity Medicine and also serves on the Board of The Obesity Medicine Association and the Illinois Obesity Society. Karli is the Founder and CEO of Gaining Health and is the Director of Clinical Education at Healthy4Life in Naperville, IL. She holds the Certificate of Advanced Education in obesity management and has received several awards for her work in obesity medicine, including the Obesity Society’s Practitioner of the Year award in 2025, America’s Top PA award in 2023, and several awards from the Obesity Medicine Association. She is currently pursuing her Doctor of Medical Science at A.T. Still University. Karli has authored numerous publications and Clinical Practice Statements on obesity care and is passionate about educating clinicians on comprehensive, compassionate obesity care. 

Marc-Andre Cornier, MD, FTOS, FAHA

Dr. Cornier is a Professor of Medicine with Tenure, James A. Keating Endowed Chair in Diabetes, and Director of the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolic Diseases at the Medical University of South Carolina. Dr Cornier has focused his career on cardiometabolic diseases such as obesity, diabetes, and lipid disorders. 

Prior to that Dr. Cornier received his undergraduate education at Vanderbilt University and medical doctorate at the Medical College of Georgia. He completed an internal medicine residency at Georgetown University Medical Center followed by a fellowship in Endocrinology, Metabolism and Diabetes at the University of Colorado.   He was then on faculty at the University of Colorado with the Division of Endocrinology, Metabolism and Diabetes until 2021. Since then, Dr Cornier continues to focus on cardiometabolic diseases such as diabetes, lipid disorders and obesity at MUSC. He is an active clinical and translational investigator with a primary research interest in body weight regulation and in studying optimal interventions for weight management and metabolic health. He is also actively involved in clinical trials for investigational treatments for lipid disorders, diabetes and obesity. Dr. Cornier has been an active volunteer and leader in a number of important health-related associations and currently serves as the President of The Obesity Society.
