Nathaniel Baffoe-Mensah, MD, MPH

Attending Physician
Penn Medicine LG Health Physician
Hospitalists

Dr. Nathaniel Baffoe-Mensah is a board-certified Family Medicine physician practicing in both outpatient primary care and hospital medicine at Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health. He completed his MD and MPH at the University of Pennsylvania and his residency at Penn Medicine Lancaster General Hospital, where his training emphasized community-engaged care, health equity, and innovative approaches to chronic disease prevention. Across dual inpatient and outpatient roles, his work focuses on integrating mental health into primary care, strengthening preventive care in underserved populations, and advancing models that make healthcare more accessible and affordable.

Dr. Baffoe-Mensah’s scholarly and public health work centers on developing practical, community-level interventions for at-risk populations. He led a Pennsylvania Academy of Family Physicians–funded barbershop initiative to expand depression and anxiety screening among Black men—an effort designed to improve early detection, facilitate connection to care, and reduce disparities in mental health outcomes. His additional projects span firearm safety education for families, adolescent health systems optimization at CHOP, and research examining racial inequities in dermatologic educational resources. He continues to develop scholarly work that bridges clinical practice, public health, and health equity.

In addition to his clinical and public health work, Dr. Baffoe-Mensah is dedicated to mentorship and medical education. He has taught and supervised medical students, junior residents, and undergraduates from underrepresented backgrounds through structured clinical teaching, case-based learning, and career development programs. His commitment to culturally informed, patient-centered care is shaped by experiences in community service, nutrition education, and faith-informed approaches to wellness. Across all settings, he strives to design and deliver care models that are equitable, holistic, and aligned with the practical realities patients face in accessing healthcare.
