Clinicians (MD, PA, NP, RN) working within the college health space, including university clinics and practices operating in “college town” environments.

Program Overview

This activity will address screening, transmission, and prevention of HIV; barriers to care including stigma among young people; and the mental health needs of college-aged patients, including LGBT+ patients.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:

  • Develop plans to overcome barriers that restrict testing and preventive care to college-age people.
  • Discuss strategies to overcome barriers, specifically stigma, that lead to undertreatment and poor outcomes for young populations most affected by HIV.
  • Describe the impact of stigma on the mental health of LGBTQ+ students.
